Ferari's history is rich in tradition and comes hand in hand with the legendary commitment to motor sport, its this on going partnership many beleive, that have made Ferari what they are today, but when did this all start?

The founder of Ferari was a man called Enzo Ferari, the first car built under the Ferari name left the factory in Maranello in 1947, but the companies roots had begun long before this date.

In 1918, the founder Enzo Ferari tried to get a job with Fiat, he was unsuccessfull and eventually took a job at a small garage in Turon, specialising in the conversion of military vehicles for civilian use. He eventually found would with Milan based CMN as a test and racing driver. Its this job that allowed him to get to know a number of mechanics and driver from the famed company, Alfa Romeo, in 1920 he joined them!
He soon became an official Alpha Romeo driver and after meet the mother of a World War 1 fighter ace, agreed to adopt her sons emblom, the prancing horse! The pracing horse made its first appearance in 1932.

Enzo Ferari made a crucial decision in 1939, he left Alfa, and set out to build his own car, shortly after the second world war Ferari released the 125 S, in 1947. Soon after this, Ferari's participation with motorsport began, Enzo ran a supercharges 125 Ferari at the 1948 Italian Grandprix, it finished 3rd! The formula 1 world championships began in 1950, with Ferari winning it 4 times in that decade.

The arrival of the 1960's saw continued motorsport success with Ferari remaining among the elite in F1, in addition lesson learned on the track saw Ferari's production car business move from strength to strength, with improves chassis and engines.

In 1972 Ferari proudly opened their own private test track, Fiorano, allowing Ferari to test and develop its cars close to the factory. Ferari continued to develop as a business throughout the 1980's and 90's with continued expansion and investment the factory became what it is today, a base for technical automotive marval!

Ferrari won back the Constructors’ World title in 1999, this was to mark the start of a 6 year run of victory's with Michael Schumacher’s six Drivers’ F1 titles, Ferari were back at the top of the pile!
